Helmizol is a medicine indicated for the treatment of infections caused by worms, parasites such as amebiasis, giardiasis and trichomoniasis or by some bacteria. In addition, it is also indicated for the treatment of vaginitis caused by Gardnerella vaginalis .
This medicine has as its composition Metronidazole, an anti-infective compound with strong antiparasitic and antimicrobial activity that acts against some infections and inflammation caused by anaerobic microorganisms.

How to take
Helmizol can be used in the form of tablets, oral suspension or jelly, and the following doses are recommended:
- Helmizol tablets: The recommended dose ranges from 250 mg to 2 grams, 2 to 4 times daily for 5 to 10 days of treatment.
- Helmizol oral suspension : the recommended dose ranges from 5 to 7.5 ml, taken 2 to 3 times daily for 5 to 7 days of treatment.
- Helmizol Jelly: It is recommended to administer 1 full tube of approximately 5 g at night before bed for 10 to 20 days of treatment.
Side effects
Some of Helmizol's side effects may include headache, confusion, double vision, nausea, redness, itching, loss of appetite, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, tongue discoloration, changes in taste, dizziness, hallucinations or seizures.
Contraindications
Helmizol is contraindicated for patients with an allergy to metronidazole or any of the ingredients of the formula.
In addition, the tablet version is also contraindicated for children under 12 years of age.
