Rodent Transmitted Diseases

Diseases transmitted by rodents can be very serious and lead to death. Most of them are caused by mice, such as:

• Leptospirosis
• Bubonic plague
• Murphy Typhus
• Mouse Bite Fever
• Trichinosis
• Rage
• Salmonellosis
• Sarnas
• Mycoses
• Hantavirosis

These animals usually multiply in places where there are poor hygiene habits, which facilitates the proliferation of bacteria, increasing the risk of human infection.

Any of the above infections occur through direct or indirect human contact with the feces and urine of these animals. Flooding greatly increases the risk of contagion, but it is possible to protect against flooding.

To avoid such diseases, contact with rats and other rodents should be avoided and when handling objects that have been in contact with possibly contaminated water, it is recommended to wear gloves and boots and disinfect food.
