Rosuvastatin calcium is the generic name of the reference medicine sold commercially as Crestor.
This medication is a fat reducer, which when used continuously reduces the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when diet and physical activity are not enough to reduce or control cholesterol.
Rosuvastatin calcium is marketed by Laboratories, such as Medley, EMS, Sandoz, Libbs, Ache, Germed, among others. It is found in concentrations of 10 mg, 20 mg or 40 mg in the form of a coated tablet.
Rosuvastatin calcium acts by inhibiting the function of an enzyme called HMG-CoA, which is essential for the synthesis of cholesterol. The effects of the drug begin to be observed after 4 weeks of ingestion of the drug, and fat levels remain low if the treatment is done properly.

Side effects of Rosuvastatin calcium
