Vitamin P was considered a set of bioflavonoids because all substances with vitamin P activity are derived from flavones. These substances are a group of compounds that contribute to the maintenance of normal conditions of the blood vessels by reducing the permeability of the capillaries.
Osbioflavonoids, such as rutin, quercetin and hesperidin, are yellow, insoluble pigments that are widely distributed in nature among vegetables, flowers and fruits such as orange, lemon and peppers .
The designation of vitamin P was abandoned because its study as a vitamin was not very demonstrative, and its nature as a vitamin became questionable.
