Admission and exams are examinations that must be requested by the company to evaluate the general health condition and to verify if the person is able to perform a certain function or if he or she has acquired any work condition. These examinations are performed by a doctor who specializes in occupational medicine.
These examinations are provided by law and the costs are the responsibility of the employer, as well as the scheduling of the examinations. If they are not carried out, the company is subject to the payment of a fine.
In addition to the admission and removal examinations, periodic examinations must be carried out in order to evaluate the health condition of the person during the period worked, with the possibility of correcting situations that may have arisen during this period. Periodic examinations must be carried out during the period of work, when there is a change of function and when the employee returns to work due to leave or leave.

Admission examination
The admission examination must be requested by the company before hiring or signing the work card and aims to check the general health conditions of the worker and verify if he is able to perform certain activities. Thus, the physician should perform the following procedures:
- Interview, which evaluates family history of occupational diseases and conditions that the person has already been exposed in previous jobs;
- Measurement of blood pressure;
- Checking heart rate;
- Posture evaluation;
- Psychological evaluation;
- Complementary exams, which vary according to the activity that will be performed, such as vision, hearing, strength and physical examination.
It is illegal to perform HIV testing, sterility and pregnancy on the admission examination, as well as the dismissal examination, as the conduct of these tests is considered a discriminatory practice and should not be used as a criterion to admit or dismiss a person.
After performing these tests, the physician issues a Medical Certificate of Functional Capacity, which includes information about the employee and the results of the tests, indicating if the person is able or not to perform the activities related to employment. This certificate must be filed by the company along with the other official documents.
Exams
The dismissal must be carried out before the employee is dismissed for the purpose of verifying that any work-related condition has arisen and thus determining whether the person is eligible for dismissal.
The exams are the same as the admission ones, and after the examination, the doctor issues the Occupational Health Certificate (ASO), which includes all the data of the worker, position occupied in the company and state of health of the worker after the carrying out the activities in the company. Thus it is possible to verify if there was the development of some disease or the impairment of the hearing, for example, due to the position occupied. If a work-related condition is found, the ASO states that the person is not eligible for dismissal and must remain in the company until the condition is resolved and a new resignation examination is carried out.
The dismissal examination must be carried out when the last periodical medical examination has been carried out for more than 90 or 135 days, depending on the degree of risk of the activity performed. This examination, however, is not mandatory in cases of dismissal for just cause, and it is up to the company to carry out the examination or not.
